Volunteer

Help prepare meals, lead a Bible study, mentor a resident, or assist with job training at Brother's Place.

What Volunteering Looks Like

Volunteering at Brother's Place is not a one-time hand-out. It is a commitment to walk with a man through the long, sometimes hard work of recovery. The men who step through our doors have often spent years feeling invisible. Your steady presence, week after week, says something different: that they are seen, that they matter, and that the body of Christ is still here.

Whether you mentor a man one on one, cook the Tuesday-night meal, teach a financial-literacy class, or fix the back-porch screen door, the work matters. We will train you, support you, and pair you with the right role for your gifts.

Ways to Serve

Pick the role that fits your life and your gifts. Most volunteers start with one and grow into more.

Mentor One Man

Meet weekly, one on one, with a resident. Walk with him through Scripture, prayer, life. Mature believers preferred.

Cook a Meal

Sign up for a date on our meal calendar. Prepare a hearty dinner for ten men, then deliver or stay and serve.

Lead a Class

Teach financial literacy, GED tutoring, a vocational skill, or a Bible study. Curricula and support provided.

Property and Maintenance

Handyman work at the Maple Street home. Plumbing, painting, lawn care, small repairs. Skilled tradesmen needed.

What's Required

Volunteering at Brother's Place is a privilege and a responsibility. To protect the men in our care, every volunteer goes through the same path:

  • Background check. Standard, no surprises. We pay for it.
  • One reference. A pastor, employer, or community leader who knows your character.
  • Brief orientation. A two-hour walkthrough of our values, boundaries, and the program.
  • Three-month commitment minimum. Recovery rhythms take time. The men need to know you will be back next week, and the week after that.
